The engineering team at Crane Cams® has developed a new Pro-Race
fiber optics-based racing distributor that’s proven to function
flawlessly in today’s ultra-high underhood temperatures.
Because of its ability to operate reliably in 300°F environments,
it has been “Approved for use in NASCAR competition.”
Light, of course, is not affected by heat. The distributor
features dual optical triggers that have been synchronized to be
within 0.2 degrees (at the crankshaft). The data is transmitted
via fiber optic cables to the cockpit-mounted ignition box
through use of a dashboard mount interface converter.
Crane’s Oval Track Pro Race Distributors have a CNCmachined
billet aluminum lower housing, ground and polished
steel shaft that is supported by bearings at the top and bottom,
and have a double lip seal on the shaft for oil and vacuum
control. Other features include a status LED light for
diagnostic checks, a wire retainer cap, and an adjustable slip
collar for GM models. The distributor is available for Dodge
R5 and R6, Ford SB, 351W, FR9, GM small & big block, R07
and Toyota applications.
Crane Cams® also manufactures ignitions, coils, and spark
plug wire to provide racers with a complete system that, when
combined with the Oval Track Pro Race Distributor, will
deliver a powerful and accurate spark.
