SUNNEN HONING STONES

Goodson announces its release of Honing Stones & Silicon Compound. For honing High-Silicon Aluminum alloy blocks with ease. These stones will fit both the Sunnen® AN-112 and AN-815 and the Goodson HN-218 and HN-2118HD Portable Honing Mandrels. Use each stone set progressively until the final bore size is achieved. To create the final condition, coat the felt set and the honed cylinder surface with the Silicon Compound (AN-30) and lap the cylinders. CHILLED TO THE BONE

DEI’s new CryO² Fuel Chiller System uses the cryogenic properties of liquid CO² to charge a series of internal cryogenic chambers surrounding the center “fuel” chamber. As the fuel passes through the center chamber, the cryogenic-charged chambers super cool the fuel by maximizing the thermal transfer process, removing heat four times more effectively than any other system available today.

 Extreme under hood heat created by headers, exhaust manifolds, high pressure fuel pumps, the engine block itself and other heat generating components all combine to raise the temperature of fuel and creates a potentially lean condition or “vapor lock” that can damage the engine. The CryO² Fuel Chiller System with it’s super-cooling effect helps reduce the temperature of fuel which in turn increases the density of fuel. Denser fuel promotes better and more efficient burning of the fuel – consequently generating more power and greater fuel efficiency.

 The CryO² Fuel Chiller System can be used along with an existing CryO² system, or nitrous oxide systems, to lower fuel temperatures and improve horsepower and efficiency while reducing the chances of engine damage.

 Each CryO² Fuel Chiller System comes complete with two (2) -4AN and -6AN fittings as well as two (2) 3/8” barb fittings and mounting brackets and hardware.  Also, in the kit is a 2-foot length stainless steel braided hose for use with -4AN fittings to allow a connection to other components such as a CryO² Air Intake or CryO² Intercooler Sprayer.

LUNATI TEAMS WITH CLEVITE

 

 

Lunati, a firm with over forty years of crankshaft know-how, has become a leading distributor for Clevite® bearings. Clevite TriMetal bearings provide critical protection that bi-metal bearings do not. They enable foreign particles to become embedded in the soft surface layer of the bearing. This innovation often protects crankshaft journals from harmful foreign particles.

Because the soft overlay on a typical Clevite TriMetal bearing is approximately .0005in thick, larger particles will extend beyond the bearing surface and cause damage to the crankshaft journal. Lunati suggests contamination is usually caused by dirt or abrasives—often honing grit remaining in the block after overhaul—or metallic particles from other failed parts in the engine, including adjacent bearings.

Lunati supplies Clevite’s TriMetal bearings in coated form or uncoated. Developed for high performance and race engines, the coated bearings have a proprietary molybdenum/graphite treatment applied to the bearing surface, but not the bearing parting lines. The molybdenum serves as a high pressure, high load dry film anti-wear agent. The graphite provides additional protection across a wide range of temperatures, especially when oil flow is marginal. These coated TriMetal bearings are identified in the part number suffix by the letter K.

ULTRASONIC FLAW DETECTION

 

Olympus NDT, a world leader in nondestructive testing technologies, is pleased to introduce the EPOCH 600 digital ultrasonic flaw detector that combines industry-leading conventional ultrasonic flaw detection capabilities with the efficiency of a highly portable, intuitive instrument.  Units will be available for delivery in early summer 2010.

The EPOCH 600 provides mid-level flaw detector performance and usability with the quality of Olympus NDT’s most full-featured digital ultrasonic instruments. This optimal balance brings powerful conventional ultrasonic flaw detection features within reach of any level of inspector.

Available in two hardware configurations, the compact EPOCH 600 offers the choice to adjust parameters with a knob or with a navigation area on the keypad. The EPOCH 600 is designed to meet the requirements of EN12668-1 and allows a full range of standard and optional flaw detection features. Key standard flaw detection features include 400V PerfectSquareTM tunable square wave pulser, digital filtering for enhanced signal-to-noise ratio, single shot measurements at up to 2000 Hz PRF, dynamic DAC/TVG, onboard DGS/AVG, and Echo-to-Echo measurements with gate tracking. Optional application-specific software programs include AWS D1.1 and D1.5, Template Storage, API 5UE, and Waveform Averaging. The large, color transflective VGA display combined with the patent-pending digital High Dynamic Range receiver provides a stable, vivid A-scan representation in both low light and bright sunlight conditions.

Weighing only 1.68 kg (3.72 lb.), the EPOCH 600 with its horizontal, rugged case style is built to withstand the rigors of very harsh and hazardous inspection environments. The navigation pad configuration with sealed case is designed to meet IP67 requirements for very wet or dusty conditions while the knob configuration is designed to meet IP66 requirements. The instrument, with its rubber bumpers on all corners, is tested to high reliability standards for drops, shocks, vibration, and explosive atmosphere. And with a battery life between 12 and 13 hours, the EPOCH 600 is the perfect solution for remote and difficult-to-access inspection locations.

The EPOCH 600 allows several methods of storing, archiving, and reporting of inspection and calibration data. The instrument features onboard memory up to 50,000 individual waveform files (500MB), augmented by an additional 2 GBs of removable memory. It is also fully compatible with Olympus NDT’s PC interface program, GageView™ Pro. With quick file setup functions and flexible data management, logging, and reporting inspection data is simple and efficient.

The Reluctor Ring Installation Tool was originally designed to aid in the installation of the reluctor ring following crankshaft work. Proper alignment of the reluctor ring is essential for ignition and timing in fuel-injected engines. The Reluctor Ring Installation Tool makes proper alignment simple. The tool indexes the dowel hole of the flange to the dowel hole in the sensor ring, ensuring proper alignment every time.

The Reluctor Ring Installation Tool is designed to fit General Motors Generation III engines and aligns GM# 12559353 and 12586768 Sensor Rings on the crankshaft in the correct phased position.
